Marathon race regulations

1. Marathon registration and fees
1.1. Registration for Estonian Cup 2017 starts on November 1, 2016.
1.2. Registration for EC events (excluding registration on spot) is only available on Internet site: www.estoniancup.ee

1.4. Special price registration for entire series EC must be paid as a single prepayment.
1.4.1. Prepayment registration closes on April 19, 2017, 12 pm.
1.5. Registration round I (first) closes 12 p.m. on Wednesday the week before the race.
1.6. Registration round II (second) closes 12 p.m. on Wednesday the week of the race.
1.7. Registration on spot the day of the race ends 30 minutes before the start.

1.8. Reregistration is only available on spot the day of the race and ends 30 minutes before the start.
1.9. In case a registered rider cannot participate in the race, the entry fee will not be refunded nor will it be transferred for next events.
1.10. Any payments received later than the dates and times indicated in the race regulations will not be taken into consideration and the person is not registered into starting list. The delayed payments are not refunded.
1.11. If a EC event is cancelled or postponed for reasons not depending on organizers, the entry fee is not refunded.

2. Riding numbers and division into groups
2.1. Riding numbers are handed out on the race day in start area from 9 a.m.
2.2. Starting list considering riders’ previous results is compiled after registration round II. Later registered riders will be placed into the last starting group.
2.3. Division into starting groups is based on the rider’s best result in the current year. Until two results are achieved in the current year, the overall result in the series in last year or the best result in last year with coefficient 1,5 (place x 1,5) is considered.
2.4. The starting groups are divided as followed: 1-50, 51-100, 101-200, 201-300, WE and Under 23 women license holders, 301-400, 401-600, 601-800, 801-1000, 1001-…
2.5. Re-registered riders are placed into the last starting group.
2.6. The Head Commissaire has the right to make changes in the starting groups, taking into consideration:
2.6.1. the need for safety in the start;
2.6.2. in marathon distance the Head Commissaire has the right to allow athletes with Estonian or International Cyclists Union licence Elite, U23, or M18 into the first starting group.
2.7. Preliminary starting list is published in Internet, www.estoniancup.ee the day before the race at the latest.

3. Scorekeeping
3.1. In order to get a result the rider must wear visibly the riding number on the handlebar  from the moment he/she enters the start corridor until he/she crosses the finish line.
3.2. At each event riders get points according to their event general result as follows:

1. place: 1500 points,
2. place: 1495 points,
3. place: 1492 points,
4. place: 1489 points,
5. place: 1487 points,
6. place: 1485 points;
7. place: 1484 points, every following place gets 1 point less.

3.3. Active rider points are awarded in intermediate sprints as follows:

1. place: 6 bonus points;
2. place: 4 bonus points;
3. place: 2 bonus points;
4. place: 1 bonus point.

3.4. King of mountains points are awarded in intermediates as follows:

1. place: 6 bonus points;
2. place: 4 bonus points;
3. place: 2 bonus points;
4. place: 1 bonus point.

3.5.  EC overall standing is calculated by adding rider’s six (6) best event points (including bonus points) together. The rider with the most points is the winner of the series.
3.5.1. In case of equal points the riders’ best place in 2016 is taken into consideration. When these are also equal the riders’ next best place is taken into consideration etc.
3.5.2. The best in age categories will be calculated by the general result points.

3.6. EC active rider is found by adding rider’s eight (8) event bonus points together.
3.7. Each event’s preliminary results are published the day after the race at the latest in the Internet: www.estoniancup.ee
3.8. Reports about potential mistakes in the results are accepted until Wednesday night subsequent the race by email:  info@tolknet.ee

4. Age categories (by year of birth)
4.1. Marathon (men): M18 (1999-2002), U23 (1995-1998), M main category (1978-1994),

M40 – Senior 2 (1968-1977), M50 – Senior 3 (1967 and older);
4.2. Marathon (women): W23 (1995-2000), W main category (1994 and older);

5. Awarding at EC events
5.1. At each event the following riders are awarded:

Age category place
Marathon general results 1 – 6
Marathon Women general 1 – 3
Marathon: M18, U23, M40, M50, W23 1 – 3
Marathon’s active rider 1


6. Awarding at EC series overall
6.1. By the series overall standings the following riders are awarded:

Age category place
Marathon general results 1-6
Marathon Women general 1 -3
Marathon: M18, U23, M40, M50, W23 1 – 3
Marathons’ active rider 1 – 3

6.2. Riders finishing all the EC 2017 events are awarded in the last event of the year with symbolic souvenir.
